The Stories We Accept

Look around you. There are stories being told everywhere. Not all of these stories agree with each other. But, notice something about stories: there is always an ending of sorts. There is always a telos (a goal or an aim). Embedded in each story is a claim; an ultimate that is held in high esteem.

Once again, it is ‘In him’, that is, Jesus, that we’ve ‘obtained an inheritance. Let’s take a look at that word. Two verses come to mind when we read that word. The first is Romans 8:17, which states, “and if children then heirs – heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.” Since context is key, the phrase ‘children’ is another blessing we receive as chosen, redeemed people. We become children of God, as opposed to children of wrath, when we become true followers of Jesus.
