At First Presbyterian Church of Mooresville, our mission has always been clear: Loving God, Loving People, and Making Disciples.

As we celebrate 150 years of God’s faithfulness, we look to the future with gratitude and resolve—asking how our facilities can better reflect who we are as a Gospel-centered, intergenerational, and welcoming church.

Our beautiful Sanctuary.

# 1 - Our Vision

Earlier this year, a Vision Team was formed to prayerfully discern how our campus can serve our mission in the years ahead.

Together with Pastor Dave and Pastor Moses, this group represented a cross-section of our congregation—men and women, long-time members and newcomers, and participants from every worship service and ministry area.

Their guiding question:

“If Loving God means stewarding His resources well, if Loving People means offering hospitality and accessibility, and if Making Disciplesmeans creating spaces that teach and equip—how are we doing?”

#2 - What We Celebrated

We began by giving thanks for the blessings God has given us:

  • A historic Sanctuary that has stood for generations.
  • A strong, united staff and congregation.
  • healthy, growing preschool.
  • Scripture-based preaching and teaching.
  • Intergenerational families joining each year.
  • church that tithes 10% of its annual budget to missions.

We affirmed that our overall campus footprint is sound and could carry us well into the next 15–20 years. But we also recognized serious needs that limit our ministry potential.

#3 - What We Discovered

Working with our Property Committee, staff, and ministry leaders, the Vision Team identified several pressing concerns—particularly in our Sanctuary and Education Building:

Sanctuary Needs

  • Accessibility: No handicapped parking or ramp access. Members and guests with canes, walkers, or wheelchairs face steep stairs and long distances.
  • Aging Infrastructure: The Sanctuary’s boiler is 80 years old and nearing the end of its life.
  • Stained Glass Windows: Protective coverings are cracked and leaking, risking long-term damage.
  • Pipe Organ: Keys play on their own and major refurbishment is needed for continued use in worship.

Education Building Needs

  • Aging Systems: Heating, cooling, and other infrastructure are over 60 years old.
  • Worn Interiors: Floors, cabinetry, and lighting are outdated and difficult to maintain.
  • Windows: 150 single-pane, 1965-era windows are energy inefficient and deteriorating.
  • Bathrooms: Not ADA-compliant or welcoming.
  • Elevator: Over 30 years old and nearing end-of-life.
  • Fire Safety: No sprinkler system in the Education Building—where children gather weekly.
  • Security: Childcare security measures need updating.
  • Growing Ministries: Youth and Kingdom Kids programs are quickly outgrowing their spaces.

#4 - Our Calling

After months of prayer and study, the Vision Team concluded:

“First Presbyterian Church has faithfully stretched dollars for decades, but the life of our infrastructure is nearly over. The time has come to prepare for the next generation.”

To move confidently into the future, we must make our Sanctuary truly accessible, our Education Building safe, efficient, and inviting, and our facilities ready to serve the next century of ministry.

#5 - The Plan

To meet these needs, Session has approved a Capital Campaign called:

Goal: $4.35 Million

This campaign will address two major categories of need:

  • Pipe Organ Refurbishment – $247,000
  • Elevator Replacement Fund – $135,000

#6 - Our Commitment

This is the most ambitious fundraising effort in our church’s history, but it reflects our deep faith in God’s provision and our gratitude for His past faithfulness.

We are trusting God to provide through His people—not through debt, but through devotion.

Work will begin as funds are raised, with an estimated 24-month construction timeline planned around the preschool and ministry calendars.

Already, several families have stepped forward with early pledges, demonstrating strong momentum and shared belief in this vision.

#7 - How You Can Participate

We invite you to join us in prayer and partnership:

  1. Pray for wisdom, unity, and generosity as we take this step of faith.
  2. Pledge your three-year commitment by Pledge Sunday, December 7
  3. Engage by attending a Vision Q&A:
  • Sunday, November 16 at 12:30 PM
  • Tuesday, November 18 at 7:00 PM

(Both in the Fellowship Hall)

“Giving is an act of worship, not obligation.”

Ask God how He might use you in this next chapter of our story.

#8 - Why It Matters

Every project in this campaign touches every life in our church family.

If you have ever:

  • Felt the warmth of sunlight through stained glass,
  • Been moved by the sound of the organ,
  • Needed accessible entry to worship,
  • Shared a meal at Wednesday Night Together,
  • Taught or attended Sunday School,
  • Dropped off your child in the preschool,
  • Or simply found a home here at FPC—

Then YOU are part of this LEGACY.

Together, we can ensure that our facilities match our mission:

Loving God. Loving People. Making Disciples.

And we can leave a legacy that blesses generations to come.
