Wednesday Nights Together (WNT)

Our Vision

As we begin a new season of Wednesday Nights Together (WNT), it’s good to pause and remember what this ministry is all about. At First Presbyterian Church, WNT is more than a program — it’s a rhythm of life together. Each Wednesday, we gather as one body to share a meal, worship, and dive into God’s Word in community.

WNT fulfills our church’s mission through dynamic worship experiences, dinner together, and a discipleship path for spiritual growth.

Our heart for WNT is threefold:

  • Fellowship – sharing life together over a meal and in relationships that build up the body of Christ.
  • Worship – centering our hearts and voices on the Lord who calls us into His presence.
  • Discipleship – offering classes, Bible studies, and groups that equip every generation to grow in faith and live out the gospel.

When we as a staff asked, “Why WNT?,” we realized it reflects the very values of FPC Mooresville:

  • Intergenerational Fellowship – church family togetherness across all ages and stages.
  • Intentional Community – embracing diversity, breaking bread, and worshiping to glorify God.
  • Livable Bible Learning – upholding God’s Word and applying it in daily life.
  • Christ-Centered Growth – deepening our relationship with God so He can shape us into a gracious, generous, mission-oriented community.

By gathering midweek, we renew our strength in Christ, encourage one another, and walk the path of discipleship side by side. Whether you are new or have been here for years, WNT is an open door to connect, grow, and belong.

The Parables of Jesus: Hearing Them Again

Led by Rev. Moses Camacho-Greer

Jesus’ parables are some of the most familiar stories in the Bible—but familiarity can sometimes keep us from hearing just how surprising, challenging, and even offensive they would have sounded to Jesus’ first listeners.

This class will revisit many of Jesus’ parables, exploring their original Jewish and first-century context alongside some of their traditional Christian interpretations. Together, we’ll pay attention to the cultural details, biblical imagery, humor, tension, and unexpected twists that can easily be lost on modern readers.

Drawing from resources including the BEMA Podcast and Amy-Jill Levine’s Short Stories by Jesus, we’ll seek to better understand the world in which Jesus told these stories—and, in doing so, encounter anew the brilliance of Jesus as a teacher. Rather than simply asking, “What does this parable mean?” we’ll also ask, “What did Jesus want his listeners to wrestle with—and how might he still be challenging us today?”

The Holy Spirit You May Not Know

Led by Amy Petrenko

Who is the Holy Spirit, and what does it mean to truly know Him? This welcoming, discussion-based group will explore Scripture and build community while learning more about the person and work of the Holy Spirit.

Using David Jeremiah’s The Holy Spirit You May Not Know, we’ll explore the Holy Spirit’s presence in the everyday life of a Christian. Together, we’ll move beyond simply knowing about the Holy Spirit toward a deeper understanding of how He guides, strengthens, transforms, and equips us to follow Jesus.

Lost & Found Women’s Bible Study: Anchored

Led by Jodi Rockness

This fall, Lost & Found will journey through the life and letters of the Apostle Peter using Marian Jordan Ellis’ Anchored: The Life and Letters of the Apostle Peter.

Through Peter’s story and a study of 1 & 2 Peter, we’ll explore what it means to anchor our lives firmly in Jesus, grow in grace, stand confidently in God’s truth, and hold fast to hope through every season of life.

Watch a preview of the study.

Women’s Bible Study: Ecclesiastes — Life in the Light of Eternity

Led by Denise Tidball

Women are invited to join a welcoming community for fellowship, conversation, and growing together in God’s Word. This fall, the group will journey through Ecclesiastes and its honest exploration of our search for purpose, fulfillment, and lasting hope.

Using David Gibson’s Ecclesiastes: Life in the Light of Eternity, we’ll consider why success, prosperity, pleasure, recognition, and self-sufficiency ultimately cannot satisfy—and discover how true hope and meaning are found in God and fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

Whether you have been part of this women’s group before or are joining for the first time, you are warmly invited.

Known: A Story Group

Led by Rev. Jordin Camacho-Greer

Our lives are shaped by the stories we carry—stories of joy and disappointment, family and friendship, faith and doubt, suffering and hope. Known is a nine-week, Christ-centered community group designed to create intentional space for people to share their stories, listen deeply to one another, and recognize God’s presence and faithfulness along the way.

Each week, participants will practice attentive listening, curiosity, empathy, and appropriate vulnerability as members of the group have opportunities to share meaningful parts of their lives. Rather than trying to fix or solve one another’s experiences, the group will seek to cultivate the kind of Christian community in which people can be seen, heard, encouraged, and known.

Known is not a therapy or counseling group, and participants will always determine what they are comfortable sharing.

Schedule & RegistrationKnown will begin September 16, one week after the WNT kickoff, and will meet for nine sessions during the fall semester. Because of the personal and relational nature of the group, advance registration is required and participation is limited to 8 adults (age 18+). Because trust and consistency are important to the group, participants are asked to commit to the full nine weeks.

When registering, participants will provide their name, phone number, email address, and the FPC worship service they typically attend. Jordin will use this information to communicate with participants before the group begins.

Children & Youth Programs

Children’s Ministry

Led by Melissa Foulke and an amazing team of volunteers

Kindergarten–2nd Grade: Kids’ Travel Guide to the Lord’s Prayer

Our K–2nd graders will take an interactive journey through the Lord’s Prayer, learning what Jesus teaches us about talking with God. Through Bible stories, games, hands-on activities, prayer, and take-home projects, children will discover what each part of the Lord’s Prayer means and how they can make prayer part of their everyday lives.

3rd–5th Grade: The Biggest Story

Our 3rd–5th graders will continue engaging with The Biggest Story curriculum through Bible study, crafts, and activities designed to help them know and love God’s Word.

Childcare is available for infants through preschool.

Youth Bible Study

Led by Pastor Dave Rockness and Youth Ministry Volunteers

Middle and high school students will gather for Bible study, fellowship, and discipleship. Together, students will explore Scripture, ask questions, grow in their relationship with Christ, and learn what it means to live out their faith in community.

✨ Whether you’re seeking fellowship, teaching, or worship, there’s a place for you at WNT this Fall. Come hungry for dinner, bring your Bible, and join us as we grow together in Christ.✨

Come hungry. Leave filled — body, heart, and soul.
